The Trinity – Our Guarantee of Eternal Security

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one…These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

1 John 5:7, 13

Dear Friends,

Are you sure what eternity holds for you? That really is life’s most important question! The apostle John wanted to make something abundantly clear, and that is, every true believer has a guarantee of eternal life.

There are many reasons for this truth, but the greatest reminder very well could be the foundational truth of God as a Trinity.

1. The Unchanging Promises of the Holy Spirit. Over and over in John’s epistle, the assurance of eternal life is revealed. The Holy Spirit, who is the author of Scripture, gives us a personal guarantee, “…ye may know that ye have eternal life…” (1 John 5:13).

2. The Unconditional Love of Father God. Our heavenly Father loves us so much that even while we are sinners, and not perfect people, He gave His only Son to provide salvation, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

3. The Unparalleled Work of Christ. When our Savior offered His life as a sacrifice on our behalf, He provided the way for salvation. All we have to do is accept His amazing gift. Glory to God – We’ve been given a guarantee from God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (a triple warrantee) that once you put your faith in the shed blood of the Savior you will never see condemnation.
