An Eternal, Unchanging God
“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.”
Psalm 90:2
Dear Friends,
While hard for us as humans to understand, the Bible’s truth of God’s eternality is incredible! We tend to measure everything in hours, days or years, so it’s hard to conceive of someone, as the psalmist said, who has always been around and will continue forever.
Since our God is an eternal God, it also means that His actions are constant and faithful…praise His name! You can count on Him fulfilling every promise because when he made them it includes all of time – past, present and future. In theology this is known as the immutability of God. Immutability simply means that God’s nature or His character never shifts, His love and His greatness remain constant.
As a believer, I can expect that His principles and laws will always hold true and that He will always do exactly what He has promised. We as humans are so emotional and often change directions according to how we feel in a particular day, but God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Isn’t it wonderful to know that we who belong to Christ through faith will be able to have a home for all eternity because of His great unchanging promise.
