Safety In Obedience
Excerpt from "Leading From The Couch"
“But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and will be secure, without fear of evil.”
Proverbs 1:33 (NKJV)
Theme: Obedience
Today we are going to have a lesson about safety. Tell the kids that you are going to take a “field trip.” Now take your kids outside to the sidewalk and begin asking them why it is important to stay on the sidewalk and not walk or run into the street. This lesson is especially useful for your little ones. After they have talked about the dangers of being hit by a car then take them back inside to the kitchen. Go to the stove and ask them why we aren’t supposed to touch the stove top. Remind them that if they will listen and obey you, they will be safe from danger. Read Proverbs 1:33 and explain that just as listening to the instructions of parents will keep kids safe, so listening to God will protect them from the dangers of evil. We listen to God by reading the Bible and obeying it. Share with your kids that God wrote the Bible because He loves people and wants them to know what is safe and best for their life.
